Horseradish Pesto Sauce

We've spiced up this classic pesto recipe with a hint of our fresh grated horseradish root for spice and flavor. This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator or freezer and added to your favorite dishes!


1.5 teaspoons Beaver Brand/Inglehoffer fresh grated Extra Hot Horseradish

2 cups packed basil leaves

1/2 cup packed Arugula

1/4 cup pine nuts

4 cloves fresh garlic

1 cup extra virgin olive oil

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup grated Romano cheese

Sea salt to taste


1In a food processor,pulse the horseradish, basil, arugula, pine nuts and garlic until finely chopped

2Add the olive oil and pulse until fully incorporated

3Remove pesto from the processor and incorporate the cheeses and salt to taste

4Store in a jar or airtight container for about a week in the refrigerator, or in the freezer for about six months

Use this pesto in any of your favorite recipes that you see fit. Here are a few of our favorite ways to use this Horseradish Pesto Sauce:

Combine pesto with grilled eggplant, bell peppers, asparagus and mushrooms

Add pesto to cooked brown rice for a pesto risotto

Add to cooked pasta

Add pesto to blanched string beans, with grape tomatoes and thinly sliced sweet onions

Add pesto between the skin and the breast, thigh, and leg, of a whole chicken before roasting

Add pesto to meatball or meatloaf recipes

Add pesto to basic vinegar and oil salad dressings

Use pesto as a basting for grilled fish

Serve pesto with fresh sliced tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and prosciutto
